One issue where I'd like to know people's feelings (lol, I almost typed "feels" there) is tag terms. Here's how the interview explains it: ...the tags that users can filter on are commonly called canonicals by tag wranglers but are also labeled 'common', a possible holdover from the term coders put into text back when the AO3 was still in alpha stage and it simply never got changed. Similarly, "freeforms", another common tag wrangler term, was changed to "additional tags" in the forms that users see because initially -- in closed beta -- on the new works page they were just called 'tags', and a lot of users were inclined to put anything in there, from fandom to character tags. And it's even more complicated than that, because although "common" and "additional" are used a lot, "canonical" and "freeform" also show up in user-facing areas, such as the tag search page. So if you were the grand high dictator of the AO3, what terms would you institute across the board for "filterable/canonical/common/standardized-by-a-wrangler-at-some-point" tags and "additional/freeform/everything-except-series-pairing-and-character" tags?

HOMG. I cannot wait until we have new terms and I can find/replace the guidelines. I was honestly going bonkers, working through those because of this. Things that are delaying the decision: 1) Something that translates well, for the day when we have interface translation (we'll have jam tomorrow, too) 2) Something that we can use in the code - the code should be human-readable, so preferrably the term should be a single word without odd spelling. (I suggested "auxiliary", but some thought it'd be easy to get bugs.) As I'm "not here" Dash, if you can send TW-Staff any suggestions, it'd be appreciated!
